Rough-In Stage Inspection Brisbane
This is your last chance to check what’s inside the walls before it all gets covered up.
At the rough-in stage, plumbing and electrical are installed — and any defects found here can be completely hidden once sheeting, waterproofing, and finishes are completed.
WHAT IS A ROUGH-IN INSPECTION
You’re entering the most critical phases in your build: Slab Completion & Frame Preparation, Frame Carpentry & Truss Installation, and the subsequent External wall linings Stage. Getting these right now saves time, money, and headaches later—so let’s break down each step, the questions to ask, and why BSPI Inspections should be by your side.

WHY THIS STAGE IS CRITICAL
This is where we commonly find issues that would otherwise be buried inside the home.
Once walls are:
✔ Sheeted
✔ Waterproofed
✔ Tiled
Fixing defects becomes significantly more complex and costly.
REAL EXAMPLE
Bath mixer backing installed using chipboard — identified during rough-in inspection
This is the type of issue that would have been completely hidden once the bathroom was finished.
We’re glad this didn’t get covered up.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
During a rough-in inspection, we check:
Plumbing installation and penetrations
Electrical rough-ins and positioning
Fixture support and backing (nogging)
Compliance with plans and general workmanship
WHEN TO BOOK
The inspection should be carried out:
👉 After rough-ins are complete
👉 Before wall sheeting and internal linings begin
FINAL CLOSE
Stage inspections don’t delay builds — they help ensure your home is built correctly from the start.
At the end of the day:
Would you rather find issues now… or after they’ve been covered up?

The Rough-in stage information was incredibly helpful and made the process much smoother for us.
